CREW: Coastal Resilience and Wastewater Revolving Fund Protecting Belize’s Environment and Your Investment Outdated wastewater systems are placing increasing pressure on Belize’s environment, coastal ecosystems, and public health. Poorly managed wastewater can contaminate groundwater, damage sensitive marine habitats, and threaten the coral reefs that support tourism, fisheries, and local communities. To address this challenge, the Government of Belize has introduced the CreW- Coastal Resilience and Wastewater Revolving Fund. The program is designed to help property owners, developers, and businesses transition to modern, environmentally responsible wastewater systems through accessible, low-interest financing. Affordable Financing for Wastewater Upgrades CreW provides financing at approximately 3% interest, making it easier and more affordable to invest in upgraded wastewater infrastructure. The fund supports the installation of systems that: Protect groundwater resources Preserve Belize’s coral reefs and coastal ecosystems Improve sanitation and public health Help property owners comply with national environmental standards Increase the long-term sustainability and value of developments and businesses By improving wastewater management today, applicants can reduce environmental risk while strengthening the resilience of their properties and investments for the future.
