Don’t Let Ocean Academy be a Fatality of Covid-19
Developing Countries are hit hardest with pandemics. Belize is a beautiful international destination completely dependent on tourism. All borders and tourism have been closed since March 23. OA’s Funding has been seriously affected Government Funding is reduced (most of the Belizean citizens’ income has disappeared which has drastically reduced the government’s tax revenue). Families cannot pay School Fees (school is not free anywhere in Belize) Entrepreneurial Student income from Social Enterprise is gone (Bike with Purpose visitors cannot travel to Caye Caulker) By funding or raising $385 for a student’s education, you can help: The student and family focus on securing food for the family
Current Funding Gap for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year = $385 USD per student
OA is Breaking Systemic Poverty in Belize: 58% of Belizean children live in poverty. (https://www.unicef.org/belize/about_35446.html) 20% Youth Unemployment (https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/SLUEM1524ZSBLZ) 100% of OA students earn income through entrepreneurial school projects.
